Susannah Pfeifer

Owner/Hair Stylist

Thoughtful, kind, and detail-driven—Susannah creates hair that fits your life and still looks amazing months later.

Instagram @colorme_susannah

My favorite part of doing hair is the moment everything clicks—the consultation, the plan, and that final “nailed it” feeling when a client sees themselves in the mirror. I love being a meaningful part of someone’s day and creating hair that not only looks amazing when you leave the salon, but still feels effortless and beautiful months later.

I specialize in creative and dimensional color along with layered cuts, and I love working with all hair types. My approach is very intentional: I base color placement and cutting angles on facial structure, lifestyle, and daily habits so your hair works with you, not against you. Whether you’re feeling bold and inspired or in need of some serious pampering, I tailor every appointment to match your energy and what you need that day.

Consultations are one of my favorite parts of the process. I love asking thoughtful questions—about your hair, your routine, and sometimes life in general. Those conversations help me understand not just what you want your hair to look like, but how you want to feel. Kindness is at the core of everything I do, and my goal is always to make your time in my chair feel completely worth it and something you look forward to coming back for.

I attended TBA School of Cosmetology and continue to invest heavily in my education. I’m currently expanding my skills through advanced cutting training with the Toronto Sassoon Academy and a year long International Color Genius master course with Davines. I stay inspired through collaboration with my coworkers and the endless creativity that comes from sharing ideas and pushing each other to grow.

Outside of the salon, I’m usually spending time with my kids and husband, heading out on weekend adventures with my best friend, or enjoying a quiet moment with a good book. I love reading, gardening, crocheting, listening to music, and sipping on a soy milk vanilla latte. I’m a self-proclaimed dog person (even without one of my own) and I firmly believe that in a world where you can be anything—be kind.

Hailey Houfbauer

Hair Stylist/Nail Technician

Creative, thoughtful, and connection-driven—Hailey blends expressive nail art with soft, wearable hair.

I love building real connections with people and helping them feel more confident and expressive through their hair and nails. My favorite services include nail art, Plexigel, natural dimensional color, and soft, flowy layered haircuts. I especially enjoy creating fun, unique nail designs inspired by anime, TV shows, and games, while still making sure everything feels wearable and true to the client.

My approach is always rooted in lifestyle and comfort. I use techniques I’ve learned through continued education to create looks that fit seamlessly into a client’s day-to-day routine. I want every appointment to feel fun, relaxing, and personal—somewhere you can unwind while also leaving feeling refreshed and confident.

I attended MJ Murphy Beauty College in Mount Pleasant and have completed advanced training through Vidal Sassoon, Aqua Hair Extensions, and CND Plexigel. Continuing education is a huge source of inspiration for me, and I love staying current with new nail art trends and techniques. I’m also inspired daily by working alongside such a supportive and creative team.

Outside of the salon, I enjoy playing golf, spending time with friends, and diving into my favorite hobbies—watching anime, playing video games, reading philosophical books, and playing piano. On my days off, you’ll usually find me at home with my three cats, Miso, Mochi, and Momo, and my English bulldog, Jackson. I love fall, Halloween, scary movies, and good music from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s (with Heart always at the top of the list). I believe that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and I try to bring kindness, patience, and care into everything I do—both in and out of the salon.

Madison Juengst

Hair Stylist / Nail Technician

Confidence-boosting, detail-obsessed, and big on dream hair—Madison creates lived-in color and extensions that feel like you.

Instagram @themadisonmayyy

My favorite thing about doing hair is helping my clients learn to love their hair. It doesn’t have to feel like a chore—it can be fun. I’m most known for lived-in color and extensions, especially for clients looking for more fullness, body, or length. To me, “dream hair” isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s about creating something that feels attainable, wearable, and confidence-boosting.

I graduated from Paul Mitchell The School in St. Louis and continue to invest in advanced education through programs like the Sassoon Academy, Bellami Extensions, and specialized training in V-Light extensions. I love learning by trying new things and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. That curiosity helps me think creatively and find solutions—even when a client comes in believing something won’t work for them or is out of reach financially. (Spoiler: there’s almost always an option.)

I’m very visual during consultations and love working with inspiration photos, but what matters most to me is understanding why you’re drawn to a certain look. I’m also a total nerd when it comes to the physics and chemistry of hair, so I enjoy explaining what will or won’t work for you—and why. As a mental health advocate, I believe your hair should reflect who you are, not hide who you are, and that the salon can be a place where you feel safe, heard, and supported. My goal is always for you to leave feeling more confident, beautiful, empowered, and genuinely uplifted.

Outside of the salon, I love crocheting, reading thriller novels, and going on adventures with my wife. I’m also happiest snuggled up with our two pups, Dexter and Arlo, or enjoying a cozy fall day with an iced vanilla latte in hand. I’m known around the salon as the hype girl—I will absolutely gas you up—and clients are often surprised to learn that before hair, I studied engineering and spent time in ROTC for the Army. No matter what we’re working on together, my goal is simple: to help you feel like the best version of yourself, inside and out.

Angie Caddell

Stylist / Nail Technician

Authentic, caring, and deeply client-focused—Angie blends creativity, education, and heart into every service.

Instagram @beauty_bee_angelic

I believe everyone’s hair and nail needs are different, and my approach is always centered on what works best for you—not what’s easiest or trendiest for me. I love offering creative color, all types of blonding, manicures that prioritize nail health, and brow color and shaping. I’m especially drawn to working with curly hair and fine hair that needs a little extra volume and body.

What I’m most passionate about is helping people feel good about themselves. A big part of that happens during the consultation, where I ask lots of questions and check in throughout the service to make sure we’re building something successful together. I want my clients to leave feeling happy, relaxed, and confident—not just with how they look that day, but with how to maintain it at home. Teaching people how to have great hair and nails between appointments is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

I completed my cosmetology education through an apprenticeship here at SNV, working one-on-one under the supervision of the salon owner while meeting the same educational and state board requirements as traditional schooling. I’m certified in CND Shellac, Plexigel, Brisa, Acrylic, and V-Light extensions. While I admire educators like Sam Villa and Adrienne Rogers, I’m most inspired by the people I work alongside every day—professionals who are committed to growth and never hesitate to guide or support me.

I bring a service-minded, compassionate mindset to my work and truly believe the way I show up for others matters. Outside of the salon, I spend a lot of time with my sisters, traveling when I can, and hiking with my dog. At home, I have two cats—Yoda and Duchess—and I’m also the proud caretaker of our salon pup, Polly. I’m known as the resident plant whisperer, caring for nearly all the salon plants and a growing collection at home. I also love studying the Bible and theology and will happily nerd out if the conversation goes there. Whether I’m sharing a laugh or offering quiet care, I’m always 100% myself—and I believe that authenticity is what helps clients feel truly comfortable in my chair.

Tammy Carter

Hair Stylist

Experienced, intuitive, and curl-loving—Tammy creates timeless cuts and soft, dimensional color that honor texture, shape, and lifestyle.

Instagram @tammycarter_hair

I believe great hair starts with understanding—not just hair texture, but the person wearing it. I have a deep love for short styles, naturally curly hair, and soft, dimensional color that grows out beautifully and feels effortless to maintain. I especially enjoy helping women transition gracefully into their natural grey while still feeling polished, modern, and like themselves. Every service is guided by face shape, texture, lifestyle, and daily routines so your hair feels authentic, wearable, and easy to live with.

Listening is at the heart of my process. I take the time to understand my clients’ needs, then offer thoughtful suggestions to help them achieve their best possible look. Whether I’m refining curls or shaping a short cut, my goal is always the same: hair that feels effortless, flattering, and uniquely yours.

I bring nearly 37 years of experience to the salon and have trained with some of the most respected names in the industry, including Vidal Sassoon Creative Training in Toronto, Vivienne Mackinder’s Masters Class in New York, Davines training in Rome, and backstage work with Vivienne Mackinder at the NAHA Awards in Las Vegas. Continuing education and craftsmanship are incredibly important to me, and I’m always inspired by learning and refining my skills.

Outside of the salon, I enjoy gardening, yoga, nature walks, and volunteering at the animal shelter—often with my dog, Barney, by my side. My favorite Sundays are spent outside, playing in the garden, sipping a cappuccino, and listening to nature. I’m also surprisingly handy and love tackling remodeling and construction projects. I live by a simple philosophy passed down from my dad: whining gets you nothing—action moves you forward.

Kaley Belcher

Nail Technician

Creative, detail-loving, and nail-health focused—Kaley turns nails into wearable art.

Instagram @kaley.b.nails

I love using nails as a creative outlet while also helping my clients feel confident, fresh, and excited about their look. Creative nail art is my favorite service, and I especially enjoy working with enhancements like Plexigel and acrylic. I’m passionate about helping clients who struggle with weak or breaking nails grow and maintain healthier natural nails—without sacrificing style or fun.

Connecting with clients is one of the best parts of my job. I start every appointment by talking through concerns and end goals so we can build a plan together. I love getting to know my clients, finding what we bond over, and helping them reach their nail goals in a way that feels realistic and exciting. And yes—I might talk you into trying a little nail art along the way.

I completed my training here at the salon and continue to grow through ongoing education, including multiple CND courses. I’m always honing my skills, especially when it comes to acrylic work, and I stay inspired by the way creativity and confidence go hand in hand. When my client feels good, I feel good—and that motivation never gets old.

Outside of the salon, I’m usually spending time with my kids, making art, reading, hiking, watching anime, or playing video games. I have two cats, Kyo and Tet, and a big love for all kinds of art—especially anime and Japanese-inspired styles, which I’d love to incorporate more into my nail work. I’m also your go-to person for finding great food spots around Michigan or chatting about manga and historical fiction. My coworkers tease me about the unique way I hold my tools, but you’ll have to come see that for yourself. I live by the idea that laughter makes even the hardest moments feel lighter—and I try to bring that energy into my work every day.

Kenzie Raymond

Schedule Coordinator

Calm, thoughtful, and solution-focused—MacKenzie keeps the salon running smoothly behind the scenes and at the front desk.

I love being part of the front desk because no two days are ever the same—there’s always something new to figure out, and I genuinely enjoy problem solving. Whether it’s navigating scheduling challenges or helping someone find the best time for their appointment, my goal is always to leave people feeling taken care of, even if the outcome isn’t exactly what they were hoping for.

Creating a calm, comfortable environment is really important to me. I try to bring a steady presence to the front desk and communicate openly so clients feel at ease from the moment they walk in. I want people to feel comfortable asking questions, knowing they’ll be met with kindness and honesty. Even during busy or high-energy moments, I focus on staying patient and grounded—something I learned from working in a coffee shop during peak summer seasons.

Behind the scenes, I manage inventory and support the day-to-day flow of the salon, making sure our team always has the tools, products, and schedules they need to take care of their clients. I take a lot of pride in staying organized, anticipating needs, and keeping things running smoothly so both our team and our guests have the best possible experience.

Outside of the salon, I’m usually reading, gaming, or spending time with my family. I love going to the Renaissance Faire every summer, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and collecting little mystery figurines. I’m also currently attempting to learn Japanese. I’m known around the salon for always humming or singing along to whatever music is playing (even if I don’t like the song), and I firmly believe caffeine can fix almost anything. If you ever need a product recommendation, I’ll probably point you toward the Davines OI line—especially the All In One Milk.

Maddie Brown

Maddie Brown

Cosmetology Apprentice

Curious, kind, and just getting started—Maddie is building a strong foundation in hair care and client experience.

Instagram @maddieb.hair_

I’m at the beginning of my cosmetology apprenticeship at SNV, where I’m focused on learning the fundamentals of hair care, sanitation, and creating a positive client experience. I’m especially excited about building strong foundational skills—like proper shampooing techniques—and understanding how small details can make a big difference in how clients feel during their visit.

What inspires me most is getting to work alongside such talented coworkers and seeing the amazing things they create every day. Being in that environment motivates me to learn, grow, and keep pushing myself as I move forward in my career. My goal is to help clients leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and happy.

Outside of the salon, I love spending time with friends, doing anything artsy, and enjoying walks in the summertime. I’m a big fan of reading, baking, and cozy days at home binge-watching my favorite shows—usually with a really good coffee in hand. I have a one-year-old gray cat named Zeus who keeps life entertaining. I love fall for the colors, fashion, and that unmistakable cozy feeling, and I dream of someday traveling to Paris. While I’m just getting started in the beauty industry, I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and becoming the best version of myself in and out of the salon.

Polly

Polly Poodle

Guest Experience Specialist

Polly is 8 years old, Angie’s sweet sidekick, and a favorite among clients and staff alike. While she doesn’t work every day (she believes strongly in work-life balance and taking time off), when she is at the salon she’s usually the first to greet you at the door.

Polly’s specialties include keeping clients company during appointments, accepting belly rubs, and making herself comfortable anywhere the attention is. Outside of salon hours, she enjoys walks, naps, and reminding everyone that a little kindness and a cute face can go a long way.
